Teacher Gifts: Easy DIY Flowerpots

Teacher Gifts DIY Flowerpots

Since this is my daughter’s first year in pre-school, I’ve now joined the thousands of other moms frantically pinning crafty (maybe too crafty if you’re artistically inept like me) masterpieces to give to their child’s teacher(s) at the end of the school year. You want to find just the right gift to say thanks for putting up with helping my child flourish this year. Seriously though, I don’t think there’s enough money in the world to thank teachers for all the hard work that they do (especially preschool teachers) but I needed to think of a gift that expressed how wonderful we think they are…on a budget.  Especially with five teachers.  That adds up quickly.

My daughter loves to paint (especially herself) so when I saw the painted flowerpots on Pinterest I figured this could work! It didn’t require fancy stencils, a Cricut machine (I’m still not totally sure what that thing even is) or drawing of any kind.  Plus, it’s a gift that the teachers can re-use, if they want, and your child will be super excited about making something special for their teachers!

Here’s a breakdown of what I spent on this project:

We already had plenty of paint in the house so the total money I spent on this project was a little over $30…not bad for five teachers! Also, Michaels and Joann’s always have coupons, so make sure to check for extra savings!

Instructions
  1. Paint! (Your child that is, not you mama, you deserve a break  icon-smile-o ).
  2. Once the paint is dry, fill with soil and flowers.
  3. Stick those cute little chalkboard stakes inside the pots and you are good to go!

*Side note-In the inspiration picture I used for this project, the flowerpot had a label on it that said “thanks for helping me bloom this year.”  I had intended to write this on the chalkboard stakes but didn’t have room so I just wrote it on the thank you cards to the teachers. Just in case you feel like being extra cheesy!

Hope you found some inspiration for your teacher gifts!

What kinds of crafty things are you making for your child’s teachers?

This is so cute.I did the same thing when my son was in 2nd grade. It was only one teacher so I got a larger pot and used his handprints for the painting. For years she told me she still had it on her deck. Over the years I made many (mostly baking )gifts for teachers.

Thanks Iris! I think the teachers really enjoyed them and my daughter definitely loved painting! Thanks for stopping by!
